My name is Nathan Fonner. I grew up on the back of a 1989 BMW R100RT as my dad’s riding buddy. I always knew I wanted to get a bike of my own someday but that day never came until Covid. I started riding during the Covid shutdown in 2020 as something to do. I picked up my first bike which was a 95 Honda VT1100. I fixed it up and got it road worthy and ended up riding about 3500 miles that summer without a license, ( it was Covid so I couldn’t get one and the cops weren’t pulling people over). I posted on the website Stromtropper.com saying hi from NH and asking if there were any problems with the 650. That’s where I met Rob Anderson. The spring of 2021 I sold the VT1100 and decided to get a new 2020 V-Strom 650. When I got my new Strom I ended up meeting up with Rob and we became good friends. By the time May 10th 2021 rolled around I had gotten my learners permit, ridden the new bike 2500 miles, and the got my license, and on the aforementioned date left for a week long trip with Rob to North Carolina. Then Rob and I came to the Puppy Dog campout in 2021 where I got to meet Jim Sarette and a bunch of awesome people in the club. Including Eric, who roped the 3 of us into making French Fries for the cookout. I kept the Strom for 2 years and rode it 24,000 miles. I sold the Strom and picked up a 2021 Honda Africa Twin 1100. ( seen in the winning photo). Rob and I have since been on a few trips together now and have ridden thousands of miles together. The rest is history as they say. My riding career as not been long but has been filled with laughter and fun and I hope it remains that way for many years to come.
